Uno de los elementos más llamativos de las obras dramáticas de tema dionisíaco es quizá el tema de la vestimenta, como elemento de cambio de roles, y el cambio de naturaleza, lo que aporta la base para el menadismo y la androginia de Dioniso. The comparative analysis of ancient and ‘primitive’ cultures and the application of anthropological models to the interpretation of classical texts have stood out as a powerful alternative to traditional philology. The paper provides food for thought on the issue of corruption in Ammianus Marcellinus’ History pointing out the need for revising the criteria of valuation of this phenomenology in order to assess it in modern conceptual terms. As a consequence Ammianus’ Res Gestae have to be analysed moving from the political, economic and social contexts as they stem not only from historiographical sources, but also from the Codes, enabling scholars to test the level of bias of the historian who was stubbornly anchored to the values of tradition that, in his opinion, coincided with the ordo’s privileges.

Hécuba triste de Pérez de Oliva, considerada una de las primeras traducciones a lengua vernácula de una tragedia griega, es una adaptación peculiar de la Hécuba de Eurípides que incorpora notables cambios, algunos de ellos por influencia de otras tragedias griegas. En este trabajo estudiamos varios motivos utilizados por Oliva que remiten a otros textos, entre los que destacan obras relacionadas directa o indirectamente con Ovidio.

Il saggio ricostruisce l'attività intellettuale di T. S. Velasti e illumina il suo contributo alla definizione della questione della lingua greca alla luce della documentazione inedita conservata presso l'Archivio del Seminario Greco Albanese di Palermo, dove trovò riparo dopo la soppressione della Compagnia di Gesù in Sicilia nel 1767. The essay reconstructs the intellectual activity of T. S. Velasti and illuminates his contribution to the definition of the question of the Greek language in the light of the unpublished documentation preserved in the Archives of the Greek Albanian Seminary in Palermo, where he found shelter after the suppression of the Society of Jesus in Sicily in 1767.
GreekLex 2: A comprehensive lexical database with part-of-speech, syllabic, phonological, and stress information

Databases containing lexical properties on any given orthography are crucial for psycholinguistic research. In the last ten years, a number of lexical databases have been developed for Greek. However, these lack important part-of-speech information. Furthermore, the need for alternative procedures for calculating syllabic measurements and stress information, as well as combination of several metrics to investigate linguistic properties of the Greek language are highlighted. The paper aims to offer an account of some representative opinions of ancient Greeks about the role of the space, conceived in its geographical/environmental value, in which a certain population lives, as well as of the language spoken by a population, in order to build historically the concept of Greek nation (to Hellenikón). The different positions expressed on these matters by Herodotus, Thucydides, Strabon and Pausanias are discussed, and the examination mostly concernes the ethnic and historical-linguistic aspects of the representation of the Dorians and Ionians.
